Thousand Hands dance show is based on Thousand Hand of Guan Yin. A Chinese choreographer created the original show. 63 deaf dancers from China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe performed this show. This dance describes the legend that Bodhisattva Guan Yin has one thousand hands. Bodhisattva is a Proto-Buddha. She could not become a Buddha as she was still attached to this world. Her vow was: “If there was a single drop of tear in this world, She would not become a Buddha”. The dance is based on the Dance of the Goddess of Guan Yin. Guan Yin refers to the Buddhist bodhisattva associated with compassion. It also refers to the bodhisattva as adopted by other Eastern religions such as Taoism. Often known as the “Goddess of Mercy” or the Mercy Goddess in English she is revered as immortal.

Our dancers have performed this show over 1000 times in Thailand. They have also performed for over half a million people over the past 4-5 years in Thailand alone. A minimum of 8 dancers and a maximum of 20 dancers perform this show here in Thailand. A much larger number of dancers perform this show in China. The ideal number of dancers to perform this show is 10 dancers.

During the performance, all dancers line up together and dance in a synchronous format. This gives the impression that the dancer in front who is visible to the audience has a thousand hands and hence the name of this show. Therefore, The Thousand Hands dance show is ideal as an opening act for a corporate event or gala dinner and also as a filler act for an award show. This show also works well to welcome guests at a wedding party. The Thousands Hands show, the ideal event entertainment performance is available for bookings globally with Jabu Events.
